So my husband had a weeklong training in Jacksonville...over his birthday. So as my present to him (besides the Red wings jersey) I drove Sophia and I the 3 1/2 hours up there. Even though it was a long drive and I had to blow my nose the whole way since I was sick, I loved it there. The beaches were perfect and the waves were filled with hot surfer guys. The city atmosphere was exxactlly what I was looking for. A laid-back, progressive hippie city. Ok, granted we only staied in south Jacksonville. We all went and played in the waves and went shell hunting, we ate at this fun ragtime resturant and had the best pizza at Al's pizza for lunch. They even had loads of free public parking.
The biggest thing was the general feel of the city. When ever I go to a large city now i have this feeling of being release. Living in sebring is so stifling (heat wise and mental wise). But being in Jacksonville Beach was like being back in Kalamazoo. Though it is not the same, nor is it better than Oregon, I woud love to move up to Jacksonville Beach area...I saw a sign there that read "Art is Forever" it as for an elementary school! how cool is that?
