Culturefied

It has been almost 2 years sincce my husband and I have been to a live show of any kind. The closest we've been was Tampa Bay Lightning Games...not very though provoking. Well, tonight starts our return to the arts. Sean and I will be seeing a great new jazz talent, Jamie Cullum, in October. Then in November we will be seeing the opera La Boheme (I saw it in collage, but Sean hasn't seen it and it is his fav opera). I am excited. Besides the coffee shops, I really missed the music, art and culture that exsisted in our old college town of Kalamazoo. I have been to 138 shows and concerts in my life. However, I have only seen 1 concert in 5 years (Lewis Black and Dave Atell). What, with babies, jobs, and moving all over the country; not to mention I don't live in the best area for the above missed things.

Now, if you know Sebring we'll be saying "but Heidi, what about the Highlands Little Theater and the performances that come to the community college?" Then I would remind you "hey You, you know the HLT sucks. It is as amature as high school theater. And if the performaces at the college were actually appealing (Christmas with Crystal Gale just doesn't float my boat) I could not even get seats because the damn blue-hairs buy up all the seats by getting season ticket packs and then keeping them year after year...until they die." Then you would reply "oh hey, I forgot Sebring doesn't care about anyone over the age of 50. Can I join you at these shows?"

As it is, I am very stoked to be pumping culture back into by brain...maybe it will be enough to make me stop missing days of old.
