Fraggles Rock...Still

"dance your cares away...Down in fraggle rock"

Over the past two years my husband and I have been collecting various children's DVD movies and collections. One of my favorites has been Fraggle Rock Seasons 1-3 (which came out just in time for x-mas). I worshiped this show in my youth. I was always a huge fan of all things muppet. We have since purchased these relics for Sophi so she will be raised of good, wholesome, creative, pure-fun 80's tv culture; something today's youths are not getting with frickin' Spongebob.

Well, over the past few day Sophia has been formally introduced to the world of the Fraggles. By the end of her Fraggle marathon today (with me being sick, Sean heavily relies on tv to entertain). she was singing and clapping to the theme song. I felt quiet pleased that our classic tv influence is working and will hopefully set up a permenate home in her heart when she get old and the evil Spongebob shows try to take her into the present of worthless TV.

2008 is Resolute

So I am lying in bed on this overcast, lazy New Year's Eve; having woken up with a wicked head cold. Thanks to the makers of Tylenol I am feeling almost human. I just was to post my New Year Resolution on here.

To recap, 2007 saw me ring in with a new membership to the gym, which I embraced whole-heartedly...stopping only for travel and illness. However, I hit a massive roadblock after the miscarriage and now that I am preggers again, don't want to risk it (working out makes me feel worse when I am preggers and that can't be good) So I will be halting the 2007 working resolution until A) baby is Born or B) I am no longer preggers by ways not induced by birth. In it's place, I hope to do some extensive wagon ride pulling with Sophia.

My resolution for 2008 is to continue with 2007's resolution when physically able...AND to get back into my writing. As per a recomendation by Writer's Digest, My hefty goal is to write a page a day (typed, double-spaced), realistic goal is to write for 5 minutes everyday (shopping list and school work don't count). My pie-in-sky hopes for 2008 is to get a rough draft of Dead Tales finally finished.

Top tv Shows of 2007

You may be wondering why only 6, why not 10 or 5...simply because I only watch good TV and these are literally the only shows I will watch. Most nights I end up watching DVD movies I have seen a million times over the CSI-ER-Reality crap that fills up most nights. It basically comes down to highly humorous comedy shows or creative action dramas (Prime Time Soap Operas...with better cinematography).

For years Battlestar had been my number one, but they really pissed me of this year when the season ended in like July and won't start till the end February 08'...makes me wonder if i can go that long with our my Battlestar maybe I can go without it period...but damn I just found out who the last Cylons were.

I just want to say "How I Met Your Mother" is a brilliant and under appreciated comedy. I first started watching to console the loss of my FRIENDS, but even though there are similarities, it is funny and original in its own right. It is kinda Friends, Scrubs, and That 70's Show all thrown together with fantastic comedy writing. Whoever writes Barney's lines is a frickin' genius.

6. Daily Show
5. Stargate Atlantis
4. Scrubs
3. Lost
2. Battlestar Galatica
1. How I Met Your Mother

Omni @ Champions Gate, Orlando

The annual Alan Jay automotive x-mas party was held at the Omni Hotel at Champions Gate in Orlando. This was a super nice hotel. I believe it is where you stay for free when you sign up for a tour of those Tahiti Village (or whatever they are called in Orlando) time share tours. It was very nice, with multiple fancy resturants. Had we not gone to Vegas, the princes at the ressturants would have been a bit much. The service was superb. The babysitting service provided by the hotel during our party was questionable. They left Sophia in a very wet diaper and I have serious doubts if they feed her. Plus when when we went to pick her up Sophia was hiding under the table with noone watching her and 2 of the staff were lounging on her sleeping mat. But, the party was, well the party was boring at no fault to the hotel. Let's just say Alan thinks he is a lot funnier than he really is. Basicaly it was a chance for Alan to show off in front of his friends and family. The dinner the hotel provided was elegant and delicious. The salad was interestingly presented, but tasty once mixed together. The Filet Migion was perfect. They had some green mashed potatos that were bad, and some delicious cheesecake for desert.

The best part of this hotel was it ammenaties. It boasts 3 large pools, one which is zero entry, a lazy river, water slide, and hot tub...all heated. There is also a pool saide cafe and beach with vollyball net. There is also a golf course for those who care to partake.

All in all, I highly recommend this hotel. It is very close to Disney but without the confusing directions and hub-bub. It is also a great hotel for a quick weekend getaway. I howevre can not attest to prices of the rooms being it was free but it only cost Alan 109.00 for the night (on a Saturday).

Sarasota Ren Fest 2007

The weekend before Thanksgiving, Sophia, Sean, and my parents went to the Sarasota Ren Fair. It isn't really in Sarasota, but rather at the Hunsander U-Pick Farm that Sophia and I went to for Pumpkin Fest. We went last November and had the best time ever. This was still pretty good (much hotter and Scots aren't as funny as the taunting French from last year). We saw full-contact jousting, full-contact human chess, harpist, pirates, and a really corny magican. However, there were far less booths this year than last...only one place to buy the ever traditional Smoked Turkey legs. We opted for the special King's dinner w/ entertainment. Also good, but not as good as last year. Sophia was much more fun however. She rode the elephant, ponies, and bounced in the high jumpers, and petted all the farm animals. She was knighted again but this time almost stabbed the knight in the butt with her sword...That's my girl!
